Hi Flying Fish Families,

We are here in our very last few days of Swim Team!  It has been a fantastic season and I am looking forward to many more!

For our last meet on Wednesday, the other team has unfortunately dropped out and forfeited.  In place of swimming against another team we will use this opportunity to run a fun meet of our own and combine this meet with our end of season celebration.  Every swimmer will participate in this final meet.  Here are the details:

Start Time: Warm ups will begin at 5:00 and the first event will start at 5:30.

Teams: Swimmers will be divided into two teams by the coaches.  Swimmers will find out their team when they arrive for the meet.

Events: All swimmers will have an opportunity to swim each of the strokes they are able.  The long freestyle and IM events have been eliminated.  Relays will be mixed boys/girls for each age group.  There will also be a special relay event for all our swimmers that are still learning or too young to have swam in an earlier meet assisted by the coaches.  We are calling this our guppy event as the coaches will race running across while holding a swimmer.

Parent Participation: We will still have parent volunteers as we usually do, so please still plan to help out where you can.  We also would like to see if we can field a few parent relay teams to swim alongside our coaches after they are good tired from swimming their own relays.  If you would like to participate in this relay, please send me a message!

Concessions: Food will be provided free of charge for everyone as we celebrate the end of the season.

End of Season Awards: After the last event we will gather to hand out final awards and medals to the team as we wrap up the season.  There will be no party Thursday morning as previously scheduled.

This should be a fun way to close out the 2021 season, and I expect that the cheering will be especially loud to celebrate the fantastic progress that each of our swimmers has made.  I hope to see everyone there!
