Swim Team Update - Time Trials May 23rd
Hello Flying Fish Families,
It's been a great start to our season! We've had a really good turnout these first two weeks of practice, and it has been a pleasure to see all the swimmers making friends and getting an early start to the summer. We also want to extend a very special welcome to all our new families!
Morning Practice Schedule: We will continue our afternoon practices through Tuesday the 21st. On Wednesday, May 22nd, there is no practice due to the end of school. Starting Thursday, May 23rd, we will move our schedule to morning practices as follows:
- 9:00-9:45 - 6 & unders
- 9:45-10:30 - 7-8 year olds
- 10:30-11:15 - 9-10 year olds
- 11:15-12:00 - 11 and up
Time Trials May 23rd: Next Thursday we will have our first meet. This is an internal only practice meet for all our swimmers, coaches, and volunteers to prepare for the real meets that start the following week. This is an important event because all swimmers will get a chance to swim all of the strokes. This gives important feedback to the coaches on how everyone is progressing with their strokes and will give us a baseline times for each swimmers to track improvement over the course of the season. Please plan to be at the pool by 5:30pm to prepare and do warmups. Races will begin at 6:00pm. All 6 & unders will participate in this meet even if they require coach assistance in the water.
How to RSVP: For all our meets it is very important that you RSVP yes or no for your attendance. This is crucial for our coaches to build the lineups and seed the races properly. In order to RSVP, please visit the website (link) and navigate to the "Schedule" tab. There you will see all the events of the season. Click on "Meet Entry" for the event. Near the bottom of the screen you click "edit." There you can assign your status for the meet as well as leave notes to our coaches. We ask that you RSVP as soon as you know your availability, but keep in mind that if you do not indicate you are not coming, we will build the lineup assuming you are attending.
How to Volunteer: Volunteers are very important for our meets to run smoothly. Our volunteer positions are fun and most offer an opportunity to be close to the action during the races. To sign up, please follow the same steps as you would to RSVP. Instead of clicking "Meet Entry" on the Schedule screen you will click "Job Signup." From there you can see all the needed positions and volunteer for a position. If you have any questions about how a job works, feel free to reach out to me or DeAnna McAleer.
Facebook: If you have not already done so, we encourage you to join our private facebook group (link). There we post lots of fun pictures and updates.
T-Shirts: Swimmer T-Shirts were included in your registration, and have been handed out during practice. If you have not picked yours up yet, please reach out to Lisa Robinson. Adult/Fan T-Shirts are available for $15.
I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone in our first competition!
Best,
