Hi Flying Fish!

It is that time of the season to start thinking about the Patti Wilder Cobb County Championship and State Qualifying Swim Meet! This is an optional meet that takes place on Friday, June 26 (13-14 & 15-18 year olds), Saturday, June 27 (9-10 & 11-12 year olds), and Sunday, June 28 (5-6 & 7-8 year olds).  Due to a high volume of participation, this year's meet is taking place over 3 days!   

This is a really exciting meet that takes place indoors at the Mountain View Aquatic Center. During the season, we swim against the other 5 teams in our division; however, during the Patti Wilder meet, we get to swim against all 50 + teams in the entire Cobb County Swim League. It is also a prelims/finals meet where all preliminary races are swum in the morning and the top 20 swimmers in each race return for finals races in the afternoon (for Friday and Saturday swimmers).

For this meet, the swimmers get to pick what races they would like to swim and if we get enough swimmers in the age group, we will put together some relays. Relays are exceptionally fun and we can even do mixed-gender relays.  The cost is $7 per individual race and $3.75 per relay race. More information from Cobb County is attached to this email.

For anyone that is interested in experiencing the thrill of an indoor meet with touch pads in the water in a 10-lane pool, I highly recommend this experience. Also, our team has developed a reputation for having the most fun and sought-after hang-out spot between races, so it will be a blast in and out of the pool.  Top 10 finishers get a ribbon and top 3 finishers get a medal. Last year, as a team we finished 5th overall and every single flying fish placed in the top 10 in at least 1 race. With 52 teams and over 1,000 swimmers participating, this was a tremendous accomplishment.
